These are the ultimate outdoor education experience. Where, through group teamwork students have to meet basic needs of food, water and shelter to enable the whole group to complete the journey. A journey often uses a combination of different modes of movement to get from point A to point B, such as walk, mountain bike, canoe or raft. When finally reaching the finishing destination a sense of achievement is gained.
Group sizes are relatively small, 10-15 students, in a bid to create a small community feeling and allow all students to experience leadership.
Food is an important part of any journey, making sure there is sufficient and that it is of high quality. We often receive compliments on our catering and we work hard to keep it this way.
Each group is accompanied by one of our highly qualified staff and a school staff member. Our role is to see that educational aims are met in a safe and supportive manner. While the school staff looks after student welfare and generally gets to see the students in a different setting.
Safety is assisted via a complex communications system with a mobile base or our main base. All our staff are wilderness first aid trained and have qualifications in general outdoor education and where necessary in the specific activity disciplines.
