Outdoor Recreation Traineeships

Halls Outdoor Education in partnership with Swinburne University runs a certificate III outdoor recreation traineeship. The course runs for 12 months where the trainee is employed at a work place and attends training throughout the year. Work places can include schools, campsites or outdoor education providers. Trainees are paid according to the national training wage and are expected to do tasks relevant to the work place they are employed at. Trainees have to attend 4 weeks of theory at swinburne tafe and attend hardskills training provided by halls outdoor education.

Training often takes place on weekends and school holidays so that it has little interruption to the working week. As the traineeship attracts federal funding for both the employer and the employee there are strict rules which apply to applicants.
